About the place
The foundation stone was laid on 25 June 1984 to a design by the architect Anca Petrescu, on Spirii Hill, where the Uranus district had been demolished. The building measures 270 by 240 m and is 84 m high, with about 1,000 rooms; in 1989 it was still under construction, and today it houses the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate, an international conference centre and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC).
The palace can be visited daily from 9:00 to 17:00, only in a group with a guide, on a route through large halls of marble and chandeliers. Tickets are sold on site, in the Constantin Brâncuși hall at the entrance on Strada Izvor 2-4, and groups of 1–9 people book by phone 24 hours ahead. The terrace and basement tours are currently unavailable.
