It won 'Best Opening' and 'Most Innovative Brand' at the Romanian Hospitality Awards 2026, and it has 4.6 on Google from more than 1,200 reviews.
About the place
Piața9 started in Oradea, where it grew from a bakery and pastry shop into a food hall and a venue in Oradea Fortress, where almost all of the brand's products are made. Its founders, Anca and Daniel Galea, had previously run a meat business in the United Kingdom for more than ten years. The first Bucharest branch opened on 15 March 2026, with a queue at the door, in a space of about 200 m² on the ground floor of the Victoria Center building, which used to house a Starbucks. At the Romanian Hospitality Awards 2026, Dani Galea also received 'Best Entrepreneur'.
It sells artisan bread, pastries and specialty coffee, as well as babka, one of the brand's specialities. On Google, guests praise the filled croissants, for example with pistachio or with strawberry and vanilla, and the cinnamon rolls. The bakery is meant as a first step: Piața9 plans to open a food hall in Bucharest too, with a butcher's counter, a confectionery and ready-to-eat food.
