It won 'Best Patisserie' at the Romanian Hospitality Awards 2026, as it did in 2025, and it has 4.7 on Google from more than 3,800 reviews.
About the place
French Revolution started at the end of 2013, when George Pop and the brothers George and Florin Panaitescu set up a Bucharest workshop devoted only to the éclair. George Pop worked out the recipes after a French cook taught him to make éclairs in a Bucharest hotel kitchen. The first shop opened in April 2014, next to the Romanian Athenaeum. Today the brand has five shops in Bucharest, and since September 2025 it has been a certified B Corp.
The éclairs are made every morning from choux pastry made with butter, with eggs from cage-free farms around Bucharest, dairy from Normandy and French chocolate. They are meant to be eaten the same day, and anything unsold is donated. The range runs to more than 30 flavours, from the classic salted-butter caramel and pistachio to mango-coconut and tiramisu. On Google, reviews mention above all the éclairs and the coffee, while a few find them expensive.
Good to know
- The éclairs are baked every morning and sold only on the day; the shop is open daily from 8:00 to 21:00.
- For orders, éclairs and mini éclairs must be booked at least one day ahead, and cakes at least two days ahead.
- Salted-butter caramel and pistachio were the best sellers from the very first year and are still on offer.
