It holds 4.7 on Google from more than 65,000 reviews, and the inn is a category A listed monument.
About the place
The inn was built between 1806 and 1808 by the merchant Manuc Bei on land that had belonged to the Princely Court. It had vaulted cellars, dozens of shops on the ground floor and more than a hundred rooms upstairs around an inner courtyard. The Treaty of Bucharest was signed here in 1812, giving the Russian Empire the part of Moldavia between the Prut and the Dniester.
Today the inn is a restaurant of the City Grill group, which in 2026 marked 220 years since it was built. The menu is Romanian, with sharing platters, skinless mici and lamb, and there is music and dancing in the evening. It holds 4.7 on Google from more than 65,000 reviews; most praise the setting and service, while one critical review says the food came too quickly to have been cooked to order and that the guest was pressed for a tip.
